As the title implies, this book starts at the beginning, so even if you know nothing of HTML, it would be a good choice. However, it takes you through the intermediate stages, all the way into the arcane world of dynamic HTML, style sheets, and all the other nifty new tools that HTML 4.0 offers. HTML 4.0 (No Experience Required) is not as in-depth as the thicker (and more expensive) Mastering HTML 4.0, but even old dogs will find a few new tricks here, especially about the new stuff.

Issues of browser compatibility and sound code-writing procedures are well addressed. It is highly recommended for beginning and intermediate Web designers.
